The number of bees in the family depends on the season: during the hibernation season, the average number of bees in the hive is about 20,000; during the peak honey harvest season in summer, about 80,000 bees can be found in the hive.

Hives themselves come in a variety of types - which one is the best to buy depends on whether you are going to take the bees out in the summer to new migration areas, or whether they will stay on the plot for the whole season. The most popular hives nowadays are the vertical Dadan's beehives, while the heavy and uncomfortable long hives, which are also poorly ventilated in the heat, are slowly becoming a thing of the past.

The highest profit per season will be generated by an apiary that changes its location throughout the year. So be prepared to deal with the issue of transporting to the highest honey flow areas - this will allow you to earn more money.

Bee swarming and the ability to create nuclei, which eventually grow into independent families, should also be taken into account. The resulting bee packages can then be sold, or the apiary can be expanded. This is another source of income for a beekeeper.
